Sustainability, Ethics and Environmental Responsibility

Bonjour, I’m Catherine Marche, a Parisienne goldsmith and independent jewellery designer based in London, handcrafting limited-edition pieces with elegance, originality, and sustainability at heart. As a Parisienne based in London, my mission is to create objects of beauty while minimising my impact on the environment.

Recycled precious metals

Every piece is made using locally sourced recycled gold, silver, and platinum, reducing reliance on new mining and lowering carbon emissions. By repurposing precious metals, I ensure each jewel is ethical, sustainable, and unique.

I aim to minimise my environmental impact by crafting jewellery from locally sourced, recycled precious metals."

Giving Jewellery a Second Life

To further minimise environmental impact, I offset the scrap value of clients’ old gold pieces into the price of their new jewellery. I also encourage the repair, remodelling, or upcycling of broken / existing pieces to extend their life, reduce waste, and ensure that each jewel continues to bring joy while caring for the planet.

Caring for the Planet: Minimising my carbon footprint and impact on global warming

I actively contribute to carbon offset initiatives, including tree-planting programs, to minimise my jewellery’s environmental impact. My browser, Ecosia, also helps plant trees with every search, and I maintain a carbon-neutral website by keeping my online footprint minimal.

You can see my little forest of trees on tree-nation.

Energy and Resource Efficiency

Heating is carefully managed: central heating is set to 19°C during winter, and layering is encouraged before extra energy use.  to reduce energy consumption.

I use 100% green energy suppliers.

Digital storage is regularly cleaned to reduce energy waste from online servers.

Transport and Recycling

I prioritise walking, public transport, and trains over cars.

I reuse mailers and packaging whenever possible, ensuring all cardboard and paper items are recycled.

Rainwater harvesting ensures plants are watered sustainably.

By combining Parisian chic aesthetics, handcrafted quality, and a strong sustainability ethos, each Catherine Marche piece is not just a jewel—it’s a statement of style, originality, and environmental responsibility.
